By downloading, installing, or using QR Guardian (the “App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, you must not use the App.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. About QR Guardian

QR Guardian is a mobile application designed to scan QR codes and help users identify potentially unsafe or malicious content. While we aim to improve user safety, the App does not guarantee that all threats will be detected, nor does it guarantee absolute safety scanning QR codes. QR Guardian is designed as a supportive tool (see App Functionality Disclaimer for more information).

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum legal age in your country) to use the App. If you are under this age, you must not use QR Guardian.

4. License to Use the App

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

You agree not to:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Use the App for unlawful or harmful purposes
  • Interfere with the App’s functionality or security

5. App Functionality Disclaimer

QR Guardian provides safety analysis of QR codes, but:

  • We do not guarantee that all QR codes flagged as safe are risk-free
  • We do not guarantee detection of all malicious content
  • You use the App and act on its results at your own risk

The App is a support tool, not a substitute for your own judgment or security measures.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App lawfully
  • Not misuse scanning features (e.g., scanning codes without permission where prohibited)
  • Exercise independent judgment when interacting with QR code content

7. Updates and Changes

We may:

  • Modify or discontinue features of the App
  • Release updates, patches, or improvements

Some updates may be required for continued use of the App.

8. Third-Party Services

The App may interact with third-party services (e.g., threat detection or analytics providers). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these third parties. See privacy policy for more information.

9. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the App, including trademarks, design, and content, are owned by us or our licensors. You do not acquire ownership rights by using the App.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Use the App in a harmful or unlawful way

You may stop using the App at any time.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided:

“AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”

We make no warranties regarding:

  • Accuracy or reliability of QR scan results
  • Availability or uninterrupted operation
  • Fitness for a particular purpose

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Harm resulting from reliance on QR scan results

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot be excluded under applicable law (including UK consumer law).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms

14. Data Protection

  • We do not misuse device or personal data in violation of Google Play policies

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws in your country.
